of
one man’s lifelong intrigue and appreciation for the exceptional. From historic family
domaines to renowned estates, the collection brings together producers marked by
their dedication, generations of tradition, and deep understanding of their land.
Marvin established the importer-distributor in 2016, not long after moving to Florida with his wife. A career medical sales specialist, he decided it was finally time to turn his longstanding passion for fine wine, spirits, and the knowledge gathered along the way into a house of his own.
His interest began well before the finer things were within reach. When he was younger, Marvin had a habit of swirling and nosing whatever he happened to be drinking with his friends, treating even the most unimpressive beverage with the ceremony of something far more divine. The habit became a running joke among friends, lovingly mocking him with the nickname “Swirly.”
The name GIDALA is a nod to his Cebuano heritage. In Cebuano, gidala is the verb for “brought.” At a gathering, if someone asks, “Anyone bring wine?”—“Gidala nako” (“I brought it”) is the most natural reply. For Marvin, the word felt fitting—a connection to his heritage and a simple expression of what he hopes to do: bring something exceptional to the table.
